Review

For 12 years, journalist Thurston travelled throughout Atlantic Canada
doing research for various magazine articles. This is a collection of
those articles. They are about people and the communities they come
from: loggers, housewives, farmers, scallop draggermen, Inuit families,
and more. Each article is complete, yet connected by the common theme.
In essense, this book is about the Maritime spirit.

I found the book extremely interesting and informative, and I gained a
new appreciation for and understanding of the peoples of Atlantic
Canada. Thurston has done an outstanding job of capturing the Maritime
spirit. This book will be an asset to any high-school or public library.
