Review

Pacific Coast Adventures is a travel guide of interest to anyone
planning to drive in the coastal region anywhere from San Francisco to
Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and beyond.

Bridges provides a remarkable amount of valuable sightseeing,
accommodation, and restaurant information, along with both regional
overviews and local “strip maps” and highway logs. The author has
chosen a modular area-by-area format, so that it is not necessary to be
making the full trip in order to make full use of the information. The
guide, as he states early on in the book, is not strictly and
technically confined to the immediate coastal area, but also includes
near-coastal areas such as, for example, the Napa Valley “wine
country” (in Northern California), and islands, which are of interest
to the tourist. The major cities along the route are also covered in
considerable detail.

This guide is exceptionally well laid out and, speaking from personal
experience, is a very useful resource to have at hand while planning for
a driving vacation in this very scenic and enjoyable part of the
continent.
