Review

This volume, produced by TUNS Press, which is associated with the
Faculty of Architecture and Planning at Dalhousie University, presents
the projects that won awards for expressive and accomplished use of wood
in the North American architectural competition. The volume is uplifting
in showing architecture at its finest. The 15 premiated works fall into
three categories: honor, merit, and citation. Half of the projects are
houses, while the remainder range from a library (one of only two urban
buildings) to a wedding chapel. The three Canadian projects include a
winery, a transit station, and a college. Each entry of six to eight
pages includes photographs, a brief descriptive narrative, and
architectural drawings that feature a selection of plans, sections, and
details.
