Review

I Think, Therefore I Learn! describes the meta-cognitive approach to
learning, which has both practical benefits (better career preparation,
more efficient classrooms, more effective learning) and personal
benefits (improved self- understanding). The guidelines that are
provided in the various curriculum areas (language arts, mathematics,
science, and social studies) are designed to acquaint students with
different learning strategies and to help them choose those strategies
that are most appropriate to the situation and the student’s own
learning style and strengths. The teacher is seen as a guide rather than
a director.

A particularly useful feature of this informative, concise guide is the
provision of numerous concrete, clearly outlined instructions tailored
to different areas of the curriculum. As well, references are provided
for those who wish to explore particular topics in more depth. Any
educator who is interested in promoting an approach to learning that is
independent, self-aware, and strategic will find this book a valuable
resource.
