Review

We all like to have cheat sheets that help us ferret out the essentials.
This book is the equivalent of the hiker’s cheat sheet. The
authors—seasoned hikers who hike every weekend, April through
October—have done all the legwork and identify the best of the
innumerable trails in the Canadian Rockies. Unless you have unlimited
time to explore, this may be the only trail guide you need.

The guide, which features trails for day hikes, backpack trips, rainy
days, early season, and even those to avoid bears, contains all the
basic information one needs for weekend hikes in the Rockies as well as
maps, photos, and preparation information. Hikers requiring more detail,
however, may want to obtain additional local information on the trails
this book has identified as the best or most appropriate. Given that
there are more than 2000 miles of trails in the mountain parks, the
authors have done a commendable job of highlighting the best ones to
hike.
