Review

Wordscapes is an eclectic anthology of poetry, fiction, essays, and
artwork by junior high-school students across British Columbia. All the
contributors show a keen eye for detail and provide thoughtful
commentary on their subjects.

The anthology has something for everyone, from a future dystopia
(“Exhaustion of Nature’s Resources Leads to Man’s Destruction”),
to fantasy excerpts (“Dragon Nebula” and “The Lotus Fir”), to
the stark realism of “Eating Alone,” to the lyrical short story
“The Café Latte.” The poetry section consists of finely crafted
glimpses into the lives of the authors and everyday events. The colorful
artwork provides further evidence of the promising talent that is
emerging in British Columbia.
