Review

The heroine of this quirky little novel is a self-deprecating asthmatic
who is fascinated by all that is celestial. Margery struggles to make
sense of, and come to terms with, the strange transfiguration that
traumatized her years before. Following that life-altering event, she
lives a simple, uninvolved existence, her hermitlike tendencies
influenced by the skies and her friendships held together by tenuous
threads. Margery Looks Up chronicles her efforts to rejoin the world.

This novel is almost completely character-driven, but the main
character is irresistible, colorful and neurotic in her obsessive
fascination with her past and her joyful observations of heavenly
movement.
