The third edition of In Search of Your British and Irish Roots contains
several small changes from the second edition (1991). Since the book was
fairly thorough and detailed to begin with, the revisions tend to be
updates or the addition of information that has recently become
available. Chapter headings remain the same, and most sections have not
been significantly altered from the first edition (1984). While the
individual changes are small, they have been made throughout.

This essential reference work should be a part of all genealogical
libraries. Those who did not buy the second edition because the changes
were not sufficiently substantial may wish to purchase this one with its
updates. Individuals who have the second edition probably do not need to
replace it. Anyone interested in doing genealogical research in the U.K.
will find this handbook extremely useful for pre-trip planning and
research. Highly recommended.
