Review

A self-described world traveler and wilderness explorer, Jack Haas came
to Canada from his hometown of Syracuse, New York. In this, his third
book, he continues his focus on a spiritual manifesto, lived and
experienced on city streets and wilderness trails.

As a youth, Haas drifted through university and work, searching for
meaning to his existence. Upon arriving on Canada’s West Coast, Haas
was immediately struck by a sense of place: an opening to an inward
journey. The intensely mystical rhythms of wind and water along British
Columbia’s wild coast proved to be the impetus for spiritual growth
and a renewed sense of self.

By penning this book in the form of a journal of thoughts and
experiences, Haas has endeavored to make his spiritual journey
accessible to others. However, the interweaving of life narrative with
complex stream-of-consciousness philosophizing makes for sometimes heavy
reading. Consequently, the reader must enter the mind of the author, who
pursues a rewarding yet sometimes elusive search for human spirituality.
