Review
This anthology of 79 poems is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of
Polestar Book Publishers, which started its poetry list in 1981 with the
publication of Luanne Armstrong’s Castle Mountain. The collection
gathers together works from 20 of the most popular Canadian poets in the
past two decades, including Luanne Armstrong, Marie Anne Baker, Kate
Braid, George Elliott Clarke, Paulette Jiles, Pat Lowther, Gregory
Scofield, and Dale Zieroth. All the poems are selected from volumes that
have become classics, from George Elliott Clarke’s Whylah Falls to Pat
Lowther’s Time Capsule. Readers in search of an introduction to
contemporary English-Canadian poetry should look no further than this
excellent collection.
