Review

Jackman’s poetry is at once enriching and shockingly authentic. This
collection is divided into three parts. The first section (“it was
only the once”) explores eroticism and adultery, while the second
(“before I forget you”) contends with absence (as a result of
adultery). In the third section (“marred impression”), the poet
comes to terms with the sea of ebbing and flowing emotion. The
simplicity of Jackman’s observations, the complexity of her subject
matter, the elegance of her lines, and the boldness of her honesty make
The Art of Adultery a collection to be cherished by the discerning
reader; my only complaint is that it is too short.
