Review

Nursery owner Marjorie Mason Hogue shares her secrets to success gained
in 30 years of experience growing annuals both professionally and for
pleasure. Together with her husband and her son, Hogue owns and operates
Mason-Hogue gardens, a specialty nursery in Uxbridge near Toronto. She
frequently lectures and guests on radio and television.

In Amazing Annuals, Hogue looks at more than 300 plants, including
rediscovered classic annuals, new annuals hybridized by plant breeds,
recommended varieties of climbers and trailers, and annuals grown for
foliage and tender bulbs. She provides an extensive growing chart for
more than 150 annuals grown from seed. Both the botanical name and the
common name of the annual are included, along with a description of the
plant that covers height, flower, color, moisture, soil, and light. Also
included are selected sources of annuals in Canada, the United States,
and England as well as on the Internet.

This excellent book, which offers valuable information on the culture
and propagation of plants, is recommended for public libraries.
