Review

Written by two lawyers, this book examines legal issues associated with
each stage of a business’s life cycle, from startup to termination.
Introductory chapters cover the relationship between an entrepreneur and
a lawyer, the basics of contract law, and the legal implications of the
various forms of business organization. The following chapters discuss
legal matters with respect to government regulations, purchase of a
business or franchise, financing, insurance, intellectual property,
employment law, taxation, and international trade. Concluding chapters
deal with going out of business versus getting out of business.

The book, which is part of a series from Profit: The Magazine for
Canadian Entrepreneurs, comes with a warning that the information
provided should not be regarded as a substitute for professional legal
advice.
