Review

All Together Now is a comprehensive anthology of chants, many adapted
from classic stories. The volume is intended to encourage learning
through playful rhymes, poems, raps, and songs, and is designed for easy
classroom use. Based on rhyme and rhythm, chanting provides
opportunities for cooperative language-sharing.

From amusing events, such as the dance of the bones, to unusual foods
like squid sauce, these oral-language techniques involve the whole
class. Each chapter begins with an explanation of the poems, then
provides some suggestions for using them as well as some extension
activities (such as exploring them through drama, art, or mime).
Included are directions to make a story skirt that can serve as your
table of contents for storytelling sessions, and the music to accompany
the chants.
