Review

This collection of anecdotes about defenceman Tim Horton, one of the
most valuable players to ever don a jersey for the Toronto Maple Leafs,
doesn’t really add anything new to the Horton story. But is does—as
the chapter devoted to the strongman’s brush cut attests—flesh it
out. The book traces Horton’s career odyssey, which included Toronto,
New York, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo, and focuses much attention on the
1962 Leaf Stanley Cup victory. Punch Imlach laments giving in to
Horton’s demand for a high-performance car to entice him out of
retirement; Horton was driving that car the night he was killed near St.
Catharines, Ontario, in 1974.

The book includes career statistics and highlights, as well as a
generous selection of color and black-and-white photographs. For donut
fans, the editor has included information about the Tim Horton
franchise.
