Review

Part of Whitecap’s Canada Series, this pictorial look at Manitoba is
filled with full-page color photographs of scenic highlights. Although
the photographs are stunning and superbly reproduced, the captions
accompanying them contain a number of errors. For example, the place
name Headingley is misspelled; Minnedosa is located north of Brandon,
not south as indicated in the text; the Manitoba Museum of Man and
Nature is not cited by its full name; and Portage Avenue is not in the
Exchange District of Winnipeg. Some information in the captions is
simplistic and misleading. For example, a caption for the Eskimo Museum
states that Inukshuks have only two functions; in fact, the stone
sculptures have numerous functions.
