Review

Lying off the northern coast of British Columbia, the Queen Charlotte
Islands or “Haida Gwaii” have long held a mystique for their
remoteness, history, and rich biodiversity. Designed as a recreational
guide, Haida Gwaii covers a wide range of topics. Well-researched
sections on natural history, parks and reserves, accommodations, trip
planning, and local history are just some of the topics covered. More
than 80 black-and-white photographs, 23 color shots, and 14 maps enhance
the text. A nice touch is a chapter devoted to biographies of 10 very
different island residents, rounding out the human experience amid the
natural landscape of the islands.

Well written and user-friendly, Haida Gwaii is highly recommended for
anyone planning to visit this beautiful archipelago.
