Review

The misperception that time is something that teachers have plenty of
has somehow rooted itself in the consciousness of the nonteaching
public. In fact, the life of a teacher is not easy, and effective time
management is critical. No one knows this better than the author of this
highly practical reference guide. Covering everything from personal time
management to the effective organization of classroom instruction and
assessment, Morris examines a broad range of strategies designed to
significantly improve a teacher’s practice and overall quality of
life. Especially strong is her discussion of lesson, unit, and year
planning, and of classroom organization (including student evaluation).
Although elementary teacher education students and first-year teachers
are the obvious audience for this book, seasoned veterans may benefit
from some of its recommendations as well.
