Review

Have you ever wanted to meet six royal brats or learn about four royal
kilt-related faux pas or read the last words of 25 royals? Well, this
“irreverent romp” through British royal history from the Middle Ages
to the present day supplies the answers.

The author lists everything one could conceivably want to know about
the British royal family—and much that we do not. With 24 categories
subdivided into 263 subgroups. Nary a royal triumph, tragedy, or scandal
has been overlooked. The tone is light, the accuracy occasionally
questionable, the chuckles frequent. A cheeky book for trivia buffs.

Matt Richardson is a lover of history, a dedicated wildlife
conservationist, and the author of a biography of the well-known British
conservationist Gerald Durrell.
