Review

Canadian Who’s Who is a valuable and wide-ranging reference work.
First published in 1910, it provides practical and authoritative
information about Canada and Canadians in many fields.

The Millennium Edition, Canadian Who’s Who 2000, includes an
introduction by Governor General Adrienne Clarkson and her Installation
Speech of October 7, 1999. National Librarian Roch Carrier observes in a
foreword that Canadians of all origins from widely divergent backgrounds
have found in Canada an opportunity to realize their dreams and also
take part in weaving together Canada’s history.

Editor Elizabeth Lumley sums up the dictionary’s broad scope in her
preface: “Detailed entries give date and place of birth, education,
family details, career information, memberships, creative works, honours
and awards, together with full addresses. Included are outstanding
Canadians from business, academics, politics, sports, the arts and
sciences, in fact from every area of human activity.”

New entries in Canadian Who’s Who 2001 add 35 pages to its length.
This valuable reference work belongs in libraries large and small across
Canada and abroad.
