Review

This timely and well-organized guide provides a comprehensive listing of
more than 1500 awards available through Western Canadian educational
institutions, as well as through professional organizations, businesses,
agencies, and community groups. Additional information is also given on
employment scholarships; awards available on a Canada-wide basis; the
program for which the awards are eligible; and the criteria by which
they are given (including academic average, if applicable). All of the
awards are coded to enable the applicant to know where to go for further
information. An index organizes awards by special characteristics and by
application deadlines. The “dos and don’ts” of the application
process (including the writing of the applications and the handling of
interviews) are provided, along with information on budgeting and loans,
and, for parents, advice on such matters as RESPs and taxes.

This book would be a very useful addition to the counseling library of
every high school.
