Review

The subject matter of these poems ranges from the awareness of the body
aging to relationships with others that sometimes go beyond words.
Campbell’s ideas of “self” fluctuate between being alone and being
interconnected with others and nature. Some poems describe painful
experiences, but others demonstrate her appreciation of life, her
connectedness to nature, art, childhood, family, and lovers. She
treasures snippets of memory, sometimes mournfully, sometimes joyfully.

Campbell’s poetry is both subtle and poignant as it captures essences
of life, and surprisingly erotic when it explores the nature of love.
Her latest collection is both refreshing and rewarding.
