Paul Preedy receives an invitation to a reunion at his old school.
Unknown to him, two other former students receive identical invitations.
Little do they know that their past actions, which they have all but
forgotten, are about to catch up with them, and their victim is
demanding revenge.
This thriller is much better crafted and written than most of that
genre. With one minor exception, nothing happens that is improbable. The
characters are real people, well-developed and consistently motivated.
The police act like police, and the technology they use is explained and
already in place in real life. All the basic information is presented as
part of the story in the first few pages, and the opening chapter
immediately engages the reader’s sympathy. The astute reader may guess
the villain’s identity early on, but there are enough possibilities to
keep one wondering, and there is enough action to hold one’s attention
to the very last page. The book has an additional bonus. The setting is
in and around Toronto, with identifiable landmarks and names. This is
Gregory Ward’s second novel, and it really is difficult to put down.
