Review

Tim Fitzharris has authored 11 books on nature, including The Audubon
Society Guide to Nature Photography. This book, aimed at a general
audience, reflects the author’s belief in the power of self-expression
in photography. Fitzharris writes affectionately about specific
landscapes to illustrate technical and composition issues. The section
on necessary equipment is brief and basic; light, film, color, and mood
are all covered in enough detail to inspire a novice photographer. The
section on composition (including practical tips on planning a shoot,
based on Fitzharris’s extensive experience) is more comprehensive. A
final section on selling photographs adds to the book’s practicality.
This visually stunning how-to book includes photographs of Banff
National Park and Grand Teton National Park.
