Review

This collection of essays presented by representatives of each faith,
ranging from Baha’i to Zoroastrianism, is intended to promote an
ecumenical appreciation of our diverse cultures in accordance with
multiculturalism policy. While the book’s intentions are commendable,
and while its brief directory and list of festivals may be of some
value, the essays are shallow and present only the most basic of
introductions. Moreover, they tend to whitewash each faith; little
attention is paid, for example, to the historical intolerance
demonstrated by every major religion. Even so, the essays do provide
some insights for newcomers to religion studies.
