Review

Are roses difficult to grow in harsh winter climes? Not really, says
David Harrap, a horticulturist with many decades of experience in
growing roses.

This concise handbook covers selection, planting, care (during both the
growing season and winter), cutting, pruning, and growing roses in
containers. The latter method requires special watering and feeding.
Although the guide pays little attention to new cultivars, catalogues
from quality garden houses will fill that gap. Illustrated with
attractive line drawings, Roses for Northern Gardeners covers the basics
of successful rose cultivation.
