Review

It’s not hard to please those of us with a soft spot in our hearts for
the noble horse. The five stories in this slim collection do, indeed,
satisfy as they pay homage to “the best of God’s
creatures”—especially those that have crossed paths with the author,
a horse wrangler, trainer, and owner.

Brady’s unique voice springs from the colorful tradition of the
cowboy raconteur. Though somewhat unpolished, his stories entertain with
their humor, insight, and warmth as they tell about horses Brady has
bought and trained and matched wits against. What is perhaps most
charming about this unassuming work is Brady’s admission of surrender
to his obsession with horses— something that can be described only as
love.
