Review

This superb guide to the most salient and spectacular sights along the
Niagara Escarpment treats hikers to 18 separate walks along the
Escarpment (on or near the famous Bruce Trail), from Niagara Glen in the
south to Flowerpot Island in the north. The information given for each
“hiking loop” (to avoid returning on the same path) includes trail
length; time required to complete the trail; degree of difficulty; an
excellent, well-designed, large-scale map; access to trailhead by
automobile; and availability of parking; and a meticulous description of
the trail’s highlights. Given the great variety of sites and locales
described, this pocket-sized guide could be used for many years—not
just by hikers, but also by casual naturalists with an interest in the
ecology and geology of the Niagara Escarpment.
