Review

This cycler’s guide to the Bruce Peninsula (which lies between Lake
Huron and Georgian Bay), contains 14 daytrips and a five-day grand tour
that cover some of Ontario’s most fascinating countryside.

The routes take cyclists over a variety of terrain, from rockbound and
sandy shores to rolling pastures, cliffs, and wetlands, and feature such
scenic wonders as ferns and rare orchids, small lakes, charming
villages, beaches, and hundreds of varieties of birds. The information
given for each trip includes an easy-to-follow map, precise directions,
route distance, the number of hills and their degree of difficulty, road
conditions, drawings, and black-and-white photographs, as well as
anecdotes about the places and people found along the way.

For those in search of the perfect backroad, this handy, spiral-bound,
pocket-sized book is a fine place to start.
