Review

This third guide in Carpenter’s daytrips-around-Ontario series focuses
on Eastern Ontario, from Trenton eastward along the St. Lawrence River
to the Quebec border, and northward to Algonquin Park and Petawawa (a
map of the area appears on the back cover). It features 50 daytrips to
41 destinations (three to the Kingston region and eight to Ottawa); a
useful “trip finder” that allows readers to select trips by theme,
activity, or location; and magnificent color photographs that make you
want to be there. Each trip “[lasts] anywhere from a few hours to a
full day”; is designed for a person of any age, from child to senior;
and features the best “natural and cultural” aspects of the locale.

A user-friendly format, Carpenter’s straightforward style, and de
Visser’s splendid photography make this one of the better Eastern
Ontario travel guides.
