Review

This is the fifth book in CBC’s “That’s a Good Question” series,
featuring the best of listeners’ questions broadcast on various
morning shows. It is even lighter fare than the glue on a postage stamp,
the calorie content of which was of concern to one curious listener. The
questions submitted by the inquiring minds among the CBC audience cover
topics from polar bears’ toes to U-boats in the St. Lawrence, and the
answers to the many provoking questions were compiled by CBC staff
across the country. The origin of slang expressions is a popular
subject, and the questions are often more frivolous than those dealt
with in CBC’s “Quirks and Quarks” or “Vicki Gabereau”
programs. The answers are consequently less complex. Nevertheless, this
whimsical collection of trivia is certainly informative, and it will
entertain all those with a sense of humor and a healthy curiosity.
