Review

These days, the real estate market across the country has become flat;
that is, if homes sell, the price often resembles the buying price of a
few years earlier. Since real estate fees account for six to seven
percent of a seller’s cost, many sellers may be tempted to “go
private.”

Those who adopt this approach should find much help and encouragement
in this book. The authors are knowledgeable real estate professionals
operating out of Vancouver (one market in the country that is still
active and hence may not tempt sellers to go private). The guide is well
organized, easy to read, and chock full of tips to newcomers (e.g., make
sure that you have a lawyer on board from the beginning, and then make
any offer subject to your lawyer’s approval). Even experienced private
sellers will learn something from this book. Highly recommended.
