Encyclopedia of Ukraine, Vol. 3: L-Pf

Roman S. Struc is a professor in the Department of Germanic and Slavic
Studies at the University of Calgary.

In his introduction to this volume, Danylo Husar Struk briefly recounts
the challenges of producing this series amid the rapid changes that have
occurred in the former Soviet Union over the last decade. Many entries
in the present volume go beyond the factual to provide thoughtful
expositions on such topics as literature and literary criticism. The
focus, however, is on the history and politics of Ukraine. The Ukrainian
emigrant scholars who compiled this impressive reference work are to be
congratulated for doing so.
