Review

The main premise of this book is that while college life can be
difficult and unglamorous, it can also be memorable and fun. Secrets of
the Successful Student provides detailed advice on how to survive the
tough times and savor the lighter side of university.

Topics include tips on finding decent accommodation, saving money,
managing time efficiently, preparing nutritious yet inexpensive meals,
staying healthy and fit, and ensuring a lively social life. The author
offers hope to students who are deficient in math and English, who are
procrastinators, and who suffer from severe exam anxiety.

Although Stein’s advice is meant to be taken seriously, his style
remains engaging and lighthearted. The book is packaged with a box of
Kraft Dinner—a humorous touch that will evoke a smile from young
students as well as from older, nostalgic graduates.
