Review

The heroine of this lively romp through the world of fashion publishing
is Rosemary McKinnon, fashion editor of a magazine called Panache. In
Paris she falls in love with a gorgeous guy from Australia who turns out
to be a fashion mogul. In Toronto she meets a short guy with a good
handshake who could be a friend but sets no bells ringing. We all know
what will happen, but it’s fun waiting for Rosemary to find out. She
lives out her life at full tilt in her Toronto office, at Paris and New
York fashion shows, and in various discreet beds. She even manages to
don a wetsuit and take the mogul sailing on Lake Ontario.

Shadows occasionally fall, in the form of corporate battles and
Rosemary’s fear that she is desired more for her exotic appearance
than for herself. Nevertheless, the writing is consistently light, full
of delicious surprise and quick laughter. We never lose sight of the
fact that Rosemary is trying to build a career. By the end of this
romantic story, she has her priorities straight and sails away in her
own special style.
