Review

This is Gordon Davies’s second volume of river stories and fishing
advice. Much of his anecdotal and historical information was acquired
through research and by interviewing people on the rivers. The stories
are interesting and informative and are illustrated with photographs
taken by the author. The fishing advice is pretty sparse, however
(Davies doesn’t hold himself out as a skilled fisher; he’s just out
for an interesting sojourn with his wife along these rivers), and the
maps aren’t useful.

While the book is a good introduction to the various rivers described,
serious anglers and adventurers are well advised to also obtain detailed
maps and fishing regulations before setting out.
