Review

Fishing the Miramichi provides some colorful insights into some of the
people and events that have helped to make the river a legend in
Atlantic salmon and fly-fishing circles. Short stories, historical
background, photographs, and useful fishing information combine to
create a lively portrait of this particular river system. The section on
fishing tackle would have benefited from more information on fly
patterns and seasonal strategies and less on the names of rods and
reels. Nevertheless, this book is an excellent resource either for those
who are considering a trip to the Miramichi or for those who would
merely like a taste of the spirit that makes the Maritimes the wonderful
destination that it is.
