Review

Donald Ziraldo is co-founder and president of Inniskillin Wines, which
began as a small operation in 1975 and has since evolved into an
award-winning business with a significant export trade. Inniskillin
Wines encourages visitors by offering a self-guided tour with 20
stations. This book describes each station as well as providing general
information about winemaking. Ziraldo calls winemaking “an art,” but
as his book makes clear, it requires patience, fortitude, and a great
deal of technical knowledge of climate, soil, and chemistry.

Anatomy of a Winery is a pleasure to read. Technical terms and
processes are clearly explained and supported by well-chosen diagrams,
maps, drawings, and photographs. Readers will learn a great deal not
only about Niagara wines but also about winemaking in general from this
lucidly written and attractive publication.
