Review

This breezily written book provides an insider’s look at the Crash
Test Dummies. Stephen Ostick was the pop music critic for the Winnipeg
Free Press during the band’s early history and traveled with the group
on occasion. His book chronicles the band’s rise to popularity and
gives a good account of the business side of pop music and the struggles
involved in securing that all-important first record deal. For those
intrigued by Canada’s rapidly changing pop music scene, Superman’s
Song offers a solid introduction.
