Review

Travel books for seniors, or “mature adventurers” (a delicious
phrase), form a relatively new genre. Some of Janice Kenyon’s tips may
seem obvious to experienced travelers, but much of her advice is worth
checking out. Kenyon and her husband have covered a lot of ground,
worldwide, over the past eight years. Her style is breezy.

Topics include budget planning, backpacking for seniors (“know your
personal limitations”), open booking versus fixed dates, guarantees
and insurance, business details before leaving home, preventive
medicine, and emergencies. Five appendices on travel literature, medical
travel resources, house-exchange organizations, adventure groups, and
travel resources offer valuable information. Kenyon’s medical advice
throughout the text is practical and helpful, and she includes a useful
index.

No Problem!, complete with small, well-chosen black-and-white
photographs, is a cheerful, optimistic take on exotic travel for the
young at heart.
