Review

This “comprehensive, single-source guide to natural resource
management terms” defines more than 6000 terms, some in
near-encyclopedic detail, with extensive cross-references.
Black-and-white illustrations are used sparingly but judiciously, and
the text is laid out in a very readable design. The guide also includes
three useful appendices: Classification of Organisms (to order and/or
family level), Geological Time Scales (with geological/ecological
annotations), and Conversion Tables and other measurements. The
dictionary will be particularly useful for students of natural resource
management, biology, ecology, and related domains as an “educational
read.” Browsing through its fascinating pages reinforces familiar
terms and introduces new ones. Highly recommended.
