Review

Many readers will suspect that the author of Best in Life is a
motivational speaker, even before they arrive at the advertisement in
the final pages informing them of this fact. Mouradian’s mouthpiece,
Humphrey the Camel, radiates optimism as he dispenses advice for those
in search of the good life. In some circumstances, motivational
principles can serve to empower those who embrace them. However, the
author’s statement that people are responsible only for their own
fates has no relevance to the lives of those who clearly are responsible
for others, such as parents of children with disabilities. On a final
note, the ad-vice in this book is not at all suitable for readers who
are depressed or anxious.
