Review

In The Right Mountain, business executive and motivational speaker Jim
Hayhurst presents his climbing of Everest as a series of object lessons
for life in general and business in particular. For example, the death
of another climber who was not on “the right mountain” forms the
backdrop for a discussion of personal style. The overarching objective
is understanding yourself and applying your skills and personality to
the situation at hand. The book, which consists of black-and-white
photographs, brief reports of stages of the climb, and the author’s
reflections on the meaning of it all, is reader-friendly and will appeal
to devotees of the motivational trade.
