Review
This book on beading is packed full of instructions in basic technique,
valuable descriptions of available materials and tools, working tips,
and design suggestions. Basic techniques include knots, stringing,
earrings, on- and off-loom weaving, and embroidery. There are additional
chapters on making beads, planning and design, and troubleshooting.
Particularly valuable is the chapter on materials and tools. Almost
every page includes sidebars with key information or extra tips.
Construction diagrams are clear and instructive: the black-and-white
photos accompanying the text are well placed. Seven pages of vivid color
photos at the beginning of the book illustrate each of the key technique
chapters.
Each technique chapter demonstrates a common pattern that allows the
beginner easy entry to the topic. A general introduction is followed by
one to three projects highlighted by a shopping list and tool kit.
Sections that follow the projects typically include additional
materials, tools, other techniques, and finishing techniques. Complete
Beading for Beginners is highly recommended for novice and experienced
beaders.
