Review

Beneath the Beauty is reminiscent of bill bissett in his earlier days.
It presents an exuberant explosion of unfocused energy, a chaos of
voices, typefaces, open verse forms, and decontextualized photographs.
Arima, apparently, has learned the magic of desktop publishing and gone
more than a little overboard.

The look, while not mainstream, is oddly retro. We saw this type of
book in the 1960s and early 1970s—produced with less slickness, but
probably more daring.
