Review

Eric Wright’s latest mystery, which is set in small-town Northern
Ontario, features retired Toronto policeman Mel Pickett, who was a
secondary character in the Charlie Salter mystery A Sensitive Case.

In Buried in Stone, Pickett employs intuition, an understanding of
human nature, and old-fashioned leg work to solve the murder of the
ne’er-do-well brother of the police chief’s girlfriend. An
action-packed page-turner, this mystery boasts strong characters, a
believable storyline, and plenty of local color. For those awaiting the
return of Charlie Salter, Mel Picket offers an appealing alternative.
Recommended.
