Review

This is Sparkle Hayter’s third mystery featuring Robin Hudson, now
promoted to the position of executive producer of the Special Reports
unit at the All News Network.

It’s Halloween and Robin has planned a “Girl’s Night Out” with
her friends. When her habitually punctual news intern, Kathy, fails to
arrive at Times Square, Robin starts to worry. Kathy leaves two
mysterious messages: in the first, she says that she is in a man’s
closet and that his wife has just arrived; in the second, that she is
meeting an old friend of Robin’s to discuss a murder story.

As Robin searches for her intern, the clues begin to point to Julie
Goomey, an old childhood friend. Their friendship had been forged by the
fact that both had been accused of having “cooties” by the more
popular girls in school. Robin hasn’t seen Julie since 1979, when they
had a falling out. Now she must find out why Julie is using Kathy to
lead Robin into the past.

In this very entertaining mystery, Robin Hudson is surrounded by a
strong cast of supporting characters, including Tamayo, the stand-up
comic; Claire, the ANN anchor; and Robin’s neighbor, Sally, who
happens to be a witch. Hayter’s fans will not be disappointed.
