Review

The heroine of this engaging and innovative novel is Jam, a cleaning
lady and lesbian performance artist who is a member of an e-mail
depression support group that goes by the name This Is Crazy. Less and
less able to function in the real world, Jam becomes heavily involved in
the cyberworld and forms an attachment to Fruitbat, a library Internet
user. At the same time, Jam struggles with drug therapy and tries to
support her friend Roz who may have breast cancer.

The e-mail exchanges between list members, and between the two main
cyberheroes, make for enjoyable reading in this fun and fast-paced 1990s
version of the epistolary novel.
