Review

This timely guide to philately takes into account such dramatic recent
changes as the breakup of the USSR into 15 stamp-issuing countries. A
generous selection of black-and-white illustrations accompany short
chapters on stamp accessories, how to store your stamps, types of
postage stamp issues, the designing and printing of stamps, paper and
watermarks, colors, cancellations, blocks and other stamp multiples,
perforations, condition and grading, reprints and forgeries, interesting
stamp facts, important philatelic publications, stamp clubs and shows,
and philatelic terms. The guideā€™s lengthy and detailed stamp
identifier is a particularly welcome feature.
