Review

The rabbit and the hare have a long and honourable literary heritage, from the earliest recorded beast fables to such latter-day celebrations as the popularly successful Watership Down; And who has not heard of Alice’s famous White Rabbit, or Beatrix Potter’s mischievous Benjamin Bunny? In this handsome collection all these and many more rabbit references are collected, embellished with famous and not-so-famous illustrations drawn from various sources. This is an attractive volume, beautifully designed — one that suggests a variety of other sources the rabbit fancier may wish to consult, and pleasing in itself as a mixed collection of the folklore, literature, and legendry of the rabbit and the hare.
